Is there a demand for steel erectors in Austrailia?
My husband has been a steel erector for the last 17 years and we would love to live and work in Oz with our 3 young boys. Is there a demand for this type of trade in Oz? How do people get job offers in place when their visa hasn’t been sorted out?
I’m afraid that the demand or otherwise for steel erectors is going to be irrelevant.
Neither Steel Erector nor anything related to that occupation (including Scaffolder, Steel Fixer, Structural Steel Erector or Construction Rigger) appears on the Skilled Occupations List (SOL). Having your occupation on the SOL is the first and most basic requirement for eligibility for any kind of work visa and without that, your application will not be accepted.

There is an outside chance that he may qualify as a Structural Steel and Welding Tradesperson – Supervisor, but if he doesn’t have trade qualifications he would not pass the skills assessment step of the immigration process and would therefore not be able to lodge a visa application:
