I would love black people to answer this question… What, as a race, do you prefer to be called?
I’m white and have heard black people say they prefer to be called:
a) black
b) african american
c) coloured – which I think sounds offensive?!
I call myself white, but I know everyone calls white people by the term ‘caucasian’ too and would love to know which term black people (the term I currently say) prefer.
Other than the obvious, awful racist names, are there any common ones such as ‘black’ that cause offense?
