what would cause a knock in the motor of a kawasaki 300 bayou?
i have a 01 kawasaki 300 bayou and this morning i started it and let it warm up for about 5-10 mins then i put it in gear and in about 15-20 feet from were i started it started to knock and sound like something is rattling around in side the cylinder but i listed to it and it sounds like its coming from were the gears are i checked the oil and it was over full by about a 1/4 quart so i drained it out and it is still doing it and it will only do it when its in gear and u are hitting the gas
and i just put a new tank of gas in it and it has been seating for about 3-4 weeks and i use high test or premium
and if u run it with tthe head lights on it run just fine
It’s low octane knock, most probably caused by stale gas. Nowadays gas only lasts 3 weeks before it starts losing its octane, a rating that measures its ability to combust, directly related to knock. Could also have an air leak between the carb and the head.
